Weather report

March 2nd, 2010 by admin

Today the weather was good but as the day went on the wind started coming in. The snow in the park and on the various slopes is really hard and on top of that all the landings are pretty flat – not a combo that makes you want to throw bigger tricks!

After my first couple of laps in the park I was happy to see Simon Ericson showed up. Now I dont have to ski all alone till monday when all the other guys are coming – stoked on that!

I did do one run with my helmetcam today, but unfortunately it had switched off before I dropped in, so the slope-style course preview was planing on uploading is gonna have to wait till tomorrow… sorry.

As a tease ill tell you what the setup was like today – not sure if it is going to remain like this for the comp but here it is…

1st hit – either a down-rail or a down-flat-down rail.

2nd hit – C box

3rd hit – 4-5 meter box with a 2 meter drop at the end.

4th hit – wallride?.. I didnt ski the wallride today because it was really hard to stop/speed-check on the super hard packed snow in the landing of it, which is also the in-run to the first jump.

5th hit – 13-15 meter jump

6th hit – 17-18 meter jump

7th hit – 15-16 meter jump

As I just mentioned all the landings are pretty flat and rock hard so I just did a bunch of 360s and sw 540s today, as did Simon. Ill probably start putting my run together tomorrow and do a run thru the park with the cam so you guys can see what it actually looks like.

Catching up: Avoriaz

February 10th, 2010 by admin

Its has been a while now, and a lot has happened since the last time I updated the blog.

If you werent able to figure out the point of my last post, ill let you know I got 2nd place the danish rail session in Avoriaz. I qualified first and screwed up in the finals, like I always do. I was obviously pretty bummed on that…

2 days later, while all the danish guys were going bananas in the half-pipe, I entered some random Russian slopestyle competition just so I could ride the otherwise close park. I got 3rd in that comp (by some weird judging decisions).

Now before I get into the DM slopestyle comp and that whole thing let me clear up why I haven´t been updating my blog during the DM week… I have three pretty good reasons why, you see.

First off my computer “broke down”. when I tried to turn it on one morning it wasn´t able to find the hard drive – this got me super bummed and basically got me out of blogging mode.

(my computer magically started working again a couple of days ago – Im really happy I im not forced to buy a new one right now, since the next wave of macbooks should be right around the corner!)

The Second reason is that I forgot to buy a universal power-outlet converter for my electronics – I currently cant charge the battery for my photo camera so I dont have too many fresh pictures.

The Third reason is the lack of proper internet in Avoriaz – nothing ever works there!

OKAY so - Avoriaz, Danish Nationals, slopestyle.

The slopestyle went pretty good. In contrast to last year, we actually got to practice on the course this year which helped a lot on the level of riding. I was really happy to see so many guys who threw 7´s and even some sw 7´s…

Im over writing long posts with lots of text… ill continue later.

Hello

February 2nd, 2010 by admin

Soooo, Hey… Its been a couple of days since the lasts time I was on here… over the course of the last couple of days truly feels like a year!

Right now im sitting in a small apartment in Avoriaz, France. Im here to compete at the Danish Freeski Champoinships which are starting tomorrow night with a Big Air competition.

Inside info: The  Big Air has turned into a heads-up RAIL SESSION because  they dont have enough snow for a 25 meter jump in downtown Avoriaz… (there is not enough snow in the world to make a 25 meter kicker in the town of Avoriaz).

So heads-up rail session tomorrow… I signed up today, but to be honest I am not sure if I am actually competing. Here is why – I think a heads-up competition on rails are kinda pointless since I feel like the level of riding will have to be brought way down to be safe enough for a heads-up. There is no way you (I) can ever be as safe on rails as on jumps on harder tricks…

Next comp i am entering will be “DM” slopestyle on thursday.

In 3 of the last 4 Danish Champion slopestyle (ever since i started skiing park) i´ve gotten 2nd place at this event. As I have gotten better at park skiing the importance of DM slopestyle as gradually become more insignificant, but this year I really want to win – not the that makes any real difference, I just really WANT TO WIN.

You know what, I actually dont have too high hopes for this one/this year either.

The jumps that were supposed to be 18-22 meters are actually 10 meters, and the park all-around is just crazy. Tons of features and really steap. Its the same for everyone though, so it´ll probably be all good – its just a little disappointing to see the park here when everything you hear is that it is really good. I dont think it is, sorry.

Ill upload a POV form the park tomorrow, so you can see what the park looks like…

till then

Velkommen til

HEEEEY Riders-folk,

ehm…
